Instructions for Flux Files

This page contains ROOT files which contain calculate fluxes for 5 different detector locations:

  1. flux_295km_2p5degree.root: The nominal location at Tochibora with an off-axis angle of 2.5 degrees and baseline of 295 km.
  2. flux_1088km_1p3degree.root: The Mt. Bisul site in South Korea with an off-axis angle of 1.3 degrees and baseline of 1088 km.
  3. flux_1100km_1p5degree.root: A generic site in South Korea with an off-axis angle of 1.5 degrees and baseline of 1100 km.
  4. flux_1100km_2p0degree.root: A generic site in South Korea with an off-axis angle of 2.0 degrees and baseline of 1100 km.
  5. flux_1100km_2p5degree.root: A generic site in South Korea with an off-axis angle of 2.5 degrees and baseline of 1100 km.

These fluxes have been calculated with the T2K JNUBEAM flux simulation tools and assume horns operating at 320 kA horn current.  They should be used for Hyper-K related studies only.  The file contains the following histograms:

flux_nu_mode_numu: Neutrino mode (positive pion focussing) flux of muon neutrinos
flux_nu_mode_numubar: Neutrino mode (positive pion focussing) flux of muon antineutrinos
flux_nu_mode_nue: Neutrino mode (positive pion focussing) flux of electron neutrinos
flux_nu_mode_nuebar: Neutrino mode (positive pion focussing) flux of electron antineutrinos
flux_nubar_mode_numu: Antineutrino mode (negative pion focussing) flux of muon neutrinos
flux_nubar_mode_numubar: Antineutrino mode (negative pion focussing) flux of muon antineutrinos
flux_nubar_mode_nue: Antineutrino mode (negative pion focussing) flux of electron neutrinos
flux_nubar_mode_nuebar: Antineutrino mode (negative pion focussing) flux of electron antineutrinos

The fluxes are given as a function of the neutrino energy with no oscillations applied.  The units are neutrinos/cm2/50 MeV/1x1021 protons-on-target.
